The best way to learn is by example. This is why we look to other digital stores to draw inspiration when building our own! In this post, we’re showcasing some of our favorite ecommerce design examples at the moment. Not only do all of these online stores have great design, but they also bring a little something extra to the table that gives them originality; whether it be technical, creative, or both!
1. Imogene + Willie
This online denim store is a designer’s dream. We love its use of large feature images and its scroll-through design. This website also holds personal value with its “Our Story” page that tells the tale of its founders and how they built the company. Imogene + Willie also created their own fit guide which ensures that their customers will love their purchase, even without trying it on first. This can be a huge advantage for online stores, as customers are often deterred from shopping on sites where they feel unsure how the clothes will fit them.
2. COS
COS is doing a lot of things right. Not only is their design eye-catching, but they also have great content for their customers to access all in one place. Their “Explore” tab features links to their own magazine, projects, architecture, and lookbook. We also love the use of large images and simple navigation which ties their minimalist ecommerce design theme together.
3. Closed
This online store is a great example of thinking outside the box when it comes to design. From their interactive elements to their mini movies, this website bends the basic rules of design to make it their own, and we think it works! Another great attribute is their “Fair.” campaign featured on their website which let their customer know about their company’s sustainable and ethical efforts.
4. Olive Clothing
We love how Olive Clothing immediately projects their brand’s tone from the very first look. Their design is simple and fresh and their images offer a more personal approach to fashion photography. This site also has great product photography; it is professional and clean without being too removed or commercialized.
5. Realisation
This site is all about the “cool girl”. Each image on their website is carefully branded to their unique tone. We love the idea of their “Get Real” page, which features their clothes worn by real people in both photographs and videos. Video lookbooks can help your customer to envision the products that you are selling on your site. We also took notice of their shoppable Instagram link, which directs customers to the exact items they see on social media.
